Second Republican Council Member Murdered In New Jersey

Republican New Jersey Council Member Russel Heller, 51, was shot and killed in his car on Wednesday, one week after fellow NJ Council Member Eunice Dwumfour was shot and killed by an unknown suspect.

Heller was discovered dead in his car around 7am on Wednesday morning, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said on Facebook. He was in the parking lot of his employed PSE&G energy, and it is believed he was murdered by a former colleague, Gary Curtis, 58. Curtis was found dead in his vehicle three hours later from what is currently believed to have been a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Multiple 911 calls were made from the location of Heller’s murder. Police said that he was outside of his vehicle when Curtis shot him, and both parties were pronounced dead at the individual scenes.

Heller’s murder comes just a week after Dwumfour was also gunned down in her car.

At present, police are not saying much about the investigation into her assassination. (LEARN MORE: Republican Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour Shot And Killed In Her Car)

Violent crime is a major concern for American citizens as rates continue to skyrocket nationally, with no apparent end in sight.

Contrary to popular belief, violent crime is not caused by guns. These crimes occur when bad people decide to commit them, with or without a firearm. Instead of policing these individuals and criminal groups, many law makers across America think they can release them back onto our streets with little more than a weak warning.
