Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott signed a new law in June that mandates all Texas schools should have an armed security guard.

HB 3 was signed into law on June 13, and mandates that all schools now have armed security on their campus, according to KSAT. Legislators applauded the decision, stating that the law would strengthen school safety throughout the state, and would also ensure that teachers are mentally and physically equipped to their job.

The law provides from $330 million to Texas schools so they can build security centers and more, according to the local outlet.
