Second GOP Debate Viewership Drops 25 Percent
Less than 10 million people watched the second GOP debate in September, according to Breitbart.
During the first debate, where former President Donald Trump was not present, Nielsen ratings showed some 12.8 million people tuned in to watch. That number dropped to less than 10 million during the second debate, at roughly 9.3 million total.
Trump is still leading against his competitor with more than 50 points in the polls. Instead of attending the debate, he rallied with autoworkers striking in Michigan.
Fewer Viewers Than 2016
The second GOP debate had significantly less viewers than each of the GOP debates in 2016, Breitbart noted. Each of these installments had more than 11 million viewers. “The RNC should immediately put an end to any further primary debates so we can train our fire on Crooked Joe Biden and quit wasting time and money that could be going to evicting Biden from the White House,” Trump senior adviser Jack LaCivita said to Politico.
