Former Bremerton High School football coach Joseph Kennedy won a $1.7 million settlement after he was fired for leading mid-field prayers with players and students over games, Yahoo reported. He will also be reinstated to his position.

As Change.MillionVoices reported earlier this year, Kennedy won his case in the Supreme Court with a 6-3 ruling from the Justices. “The Constitution and the best of our traditions counsel mutual respect and tolerance, not censorship and suppression, for religious and nonreligious views alike,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote at the time.

All Democrat justices wanted Kennedy’s career to be ruined over his choice to pray.

“This is just so awesome,” Kennedy said Monday in a statement shared by Yahoo. “All I’ve ever wanted was to be back on the field with my guys.” He’ll be doing just that in 2023!
