Oklahoma Republican Gov. Kevin Sitt defended his decision to veto a bill that would have funded the state’s Public Broadcast Service (PBS) affiliate until 2026, citing protections for children, CBN reported.

Sitt’s decision was based upon the “indoctrination and over-sexualization” of children on PBS programming. During an interview with Fox New Digital (who recently censored their star host, Tucker Carlson), Sitt also wondered why Oklahoma taxpayers should be paying for the existence of Oklahoma Educational Television Authority, which he feels has show significant far-leftist biases in its work.

“OETA, to us, is an outdated system. You know, the big, big question is why are we spending taxpayer dollars to prop up or compete with the private sector and run television stations?” Sitt asked the network. Protecting Children Should Be Our #1 Goal

“And then when you go through all of the programming that’s happening and the indoctrination and over-sexualization of our children, it’s just really problematic, and it doesn’t line up with Oklahoma values,” he continued.

Some of the content featured on PBS Newshour also showed support for child mutilation surgeries. Such surgeries are typically called  “gender-altering.” They are irreversible and cause life-long damage to children’s reproductive systems. “When you think about educating kids, let’s teach them to read and their numbers and counting and letters and those kinds of things,” Sitt stated. “I mean, some of the programming that we’re seeing… it just doesn’t need to be on public television. Oklahoma taxpayers are going, ‘Hey, hang on, time out for just a second. That’s not my values.’ I’m just tired of using taxpayer dollars for some person’s agenda. I represent the taxpayers.”
