State Steps Up To Protect Young People From Pornography, And It Goes A Little Too Well

The state of Utah started requiring pornography sites to verify the age of users, following the passage of a new law that went into effect Wednesday, according to the Washington Stand.

The original bill was signed into law in March by Republican Utah Gov. Spencer Cox. But at least one pornography site appeared annoyed that minors would now be restricted from accessing sexual content — MindGeek. Apparently one of the world’s largest pornography companies, MindGeek has blocked all people in Utah from accessing their main site, PornHub.

It’s unclear why the leadership at MindGeek would think this was an appropriate reaction. Surely stopping children from seeing people be sexually abused, assaulted, used, many of whom are in desperate need of help, should be a core goal for any normal adult?

Imagine What Could Happen Next

Similar age restriction and verification processes should be enacted in every single state across America. Protecting children is never something that should be secondary to business. It should be the primary goal of every living human. If every state were to require age verification, would PornHub cease all American operations? If so, how many men, women, and children would be saved from sexual exploitation? A lot, we hope.

Utah Sets Precedent

“Utah has put itself forward as a leader for governing the internet on behalf of the American family,” Institute for Family Studies executive director Michael Toscano said of the situation. (LEARN MORE: Powerful Group Starts Campaign To Destroy Anti-Parent Legislation)

“Under the leadership of Governor Cox, he has decided that he was going to challenge the powers of Big Tech and Silicon Valley and Big Porn with a raft of legislation that would require these companies to verify the age of its users before admitting access. And it’s sending shock waves across the country. Legislatures across the country are looking at it, as well as on the federal level. It’s a remarkable watershed in the history of this country.”
