REPORT: Incompetent Election Admin Suppressed Voters
“I have never seen anything so egregiously, grossly mismanaged as the elections in Harris County this past year,” Harris County GOP Chair Cindy Siegel recently said during a Texas Senate committee hearing, according to the Federalist.
Siegel’s comments came after Harris County election official mismanaged the administration of ballots. This led to shortage of ballot papers, delayed openings, temporary closures of voting centers, and a slew of disenfranchised voters, the outlet continued.
Harris County is the third most populous county in America. The jurisdiction has historically favored Republican candidates, but has shifted to the Democrats in recent elections.
Harris County May Not Have Provided Voters With A Fair Election
Like all other jurisdictions with significantly obvious election issues, Harris County appears to have done nothing to remedy their crises. Two months after the election, county officials released an “inconclusive” assessment of the problems reported on Election Day.
