Idaho churchgoer Gabriel Rench spoke Monday following a settlement agreement for his 2020 arrest for not wearing a mask to an outdoor service.

Rench was one of three people arrested in September 2020 for refusing to wear a mask to an open-air worship service, according to the New York Post. The three individuals brough a case against their local jurisdiction in which they claimed their First and Fourth Amendment rights were violated during the arrest.

The jurisdiction settled with the individuals for a reported $300,000. ” I’m very grateful that I got a victory. How many people nationwide didn’t get a victory?” Rench asked on Monday while being interviewed by “Fox & Friends.”

He argued that the settlement was an attempt to pay to make a “massive PR problem go away.” He blamed the situation on liberalism and cancel culture. “Liberalism is really turning into kind of a modern-day cult. They use coercion, they want power, and they have no real moral standard that is kind of fixed for them,” he continued.

“Our mayor was breaking social distancing and masking rules. He went and played golf and drank beer with his buddies the day he shut down our town in March 2020,” Rench claimed during the interview. “He was officiating open-door – excuse me – outside weddings a month before he had me arrested.”
