Senior pastor for First Baptist Church Atlanta, and founder of In Touch Ministries, Dr. Charles Frazier Stanley, died Tuesday morning at the age of 90-years-old.

The renowned faith leader passed away peacefully at this home, according to Fox 5. Stanley was a staple pastor, broadcaster, and author for more than five decades. He served  on the  staff of First Baptist Atlanta, where he was named a Senior Pastor in 1971.

He was the 16th pastor for the church, which was founded in 1848, Fox reported. Under his leadership, the institution grew exponentially, hosting more than 15,000 diverse members from across the city.

A Legend, Icon, And Voice Of Good

Stanley was born in Dry Fork, Virginia, in 1932. He founded In Touch Ministries in 1977 to “get the truth of the Gospel to as many people as possible.” Over the course of his career, his sermons, podcasts, and devotionals have been seen and heard by more than 115 million homes a week across some 126 countries, Fox continued.

His work was inducted into the National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1998. He wrote more than 60 books, including a handful of New York Times best sellers.

His Influence Will Live On

As an avid nature photographer, Stanley’s works hung on the walls of the In Touch studios. One of his pictures was even hanging in the bedroom of late Reverend Bill Graham when he died.

Stanley is survived by two children.
