Georgetown Law Student Details Horrific Way School Allegedly Treated Him During COVID-19

An op-ed written by William Spruance, published in February by the Brownstone Institute, detailed the horrendous way that Georgetown Law treated him during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spruance claimed that he was suspended from campus, forced to go through a psychiatric evaluation, threatened to report him to the state bar association, and pushed him into waiving his right to medical confidentiality… all for questioning the school’s COVID restrictions.

While Spruance details a slew of other major ethical issues with the Ivy League school, the COVID-19 policies are truly insane to behold. “In August 2021, Georgetown Law returned to in-person learning after 17 months of virtual learning. The school announced a series of new policies for the school year: there was a vaccine requirement (later to be supplemented with booster mandates), students were required to wear masks on campus, and drinking water was banned in the classroom,” he detailed.

Georgetown allegedly banned students from drinking water indoors during COVID-19? Wow!

Talk about tyranny! What’s crazier is that faculty members were allegedly exempt from the requirement. Clearly, Georgetown’s leadership made up these rules on the spot, applied them to whomever they felt, and then tried to destroy the lives of those who pay for the institution to exist in the first place — students. Spruance was reported to an institutional system called “Law Compliance,” where someone had reported him for allowing his mask to fall beneath his nose. He was forced to attend a meeting with one of the school’s Deans, where he was apparently encouraged to “get involved in the conversation” about the school’s COVID policies.

It seems like these recommendations were just a ploy to get Spruance to speak his truth, and he was severely punished for it. You can read all the details here. Spruance summarized his piece by saying, “Georgetown Law continues as an incubator for an unimpressive ruling class, teaching its pupils to nod along to the script. As they say, the show must go on.” (LEARN MORE: Stanford University Student Prompts Formal Administrative Intervention For Reading A Book)
