States along the U.S. border with Canada are demanding federal assistance to deal with growing cartel activity and a surge in migrants, CBN reported in March.

“New Hampshire’s not waiting for the crisis to cause further impact to our state,” Commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Safety Robert Quinn stated during a recent House Homeland Security Committee hearing, according to CBN. Quinn informed the committee his troopers were ready to step up. But more support is needed.

“From our perspective, it’s critical that Homeland Security delegate its authority to our state police to detain and apprehend those who are crossing the border illegally into our state,” Quinn continued. The Biden Administration has rejected all requests for support, to-date.

New Hampshire, along with parts of Vermont and New York, have seen an 850% increase in illegal migrant crossings in the last year, CBN noted. There are less than 2,000 border control agents to cover more than 3,145 miles of land-border. To put into perspective, this is larger than the southern border with Mexico.

“If the northern border is now being exploited by these cartels, and by international players like China, they’re the largest exporter of Fentanyl into our country. They use the cartels as well. Then we have a big big problem,” former chief of Homeland Security for and Intelligence for the District of Columbia. Dr. Donell Harvin stated, according to CBN.
