‘We Need Jesus’: Moon-Mission Astronaut Shares His Faith

Victor Glover, one of four astronauts heading to the moon in NASA’s Artemis II voyage, shared his incredible experiences of faith in space.

Glover was announced Monday as being a core crew member heading back to the moon in 2024, Christian Headlines reported. It won’t be his first time in space, as Glover spent a fair amount of time on the International Space Station during Expedition 64. It was during this 168-day mission that he brought a Bible, communion cups, watched virtual services, and prayed in space.

Faith In Space

“I was able to worship in space,” Glover told the congregation at Abell Street Church of Christ in Texas in 2022. “…I was able to take communion every week I was in space.” NASA was supportive of his family’s desire to continue his worship while he was hanging out over our heads.

And he wasn’t alone in his worship. “We had a Catholic up there, a Christian, a few non-believers and a Buddhist,” Glover said in another interview cited by Christian Headlines. “And I tell you what – all of us wanted to fellowship in the evening [after] being alone and working hard all day long. And that human desire to be together, to be with our brothers and sisters, is a thing that I think about all the time.”
