Washington D.C. Residents Blame Rising Crime On ‘No Fear Of God’
The Washington Stand reported Wednesday that residents in Washington D.C. are blaming the soaring increase in violence on the fact that people have “no fear of God” in the city.
D.C. suffered 16 homicides in the first week of August, and 161 thus far in 2023, the outlet noted. That number signifies a 28% increase since 2022, and residents are terrified.
“We live in a very wicked time,” D.C. resident Kenny Jones said of the situation. He has three sons, and is scared of them getting caught up in the violence if they remain in the capital. Another resident chimed in, saying that when she was growing up in D.C., “people feared God, and people feared the police.” Now? “They just don’t care.”

“Some children are growing up without having their moral compasses calibrated by the Word of God,” D.C. church planter Welton Bonner told the outlet. “That, coupled with society’s overfixation on self-actualization and moral relativism, makes it easier to kill one’s ‘opps’ (rival peers) and brag about it on social media or in a rap song. That is their pathway to power and respect. The more bodies (murders) that one has, the more powerful one is.”
