Distinguished constitutional scholar John Eastman was served an official complaint containing 11 charges by the State Bar of California after he offered former President Donald Trump legal advice following the 2020 presidential election.

The official complaint alleges that Eastman endeavored to “plan, promote, and assist then-President Trump in executing a strategy, unsupported by facts or law, to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election by obstructing the count of electoral votes of certain states.”

In an op-ed published by American Greatness, writer Roger Kimball wrote a passionate plea for justice for Eastman, claiming that none of the charges against Eastman are true.

Eastman himself explained in detail how the actions of the California Bar constitute a malicious attack, predicated by political bias. All Eastman did was “review the election law in order to advise Trump and Vice President Mike Pence on the various legitimate strategies they could employ to address the rampant irregularities that had infected the 2020 election,” according to Kimball.

By definition, Eastman did exactly what he was supposed to do as an attorney: advise his client on the best course of legal action. He was one of many attorneys, some of whom were state attorneys general, who raised significant concerns surrounding the integrity of the 2020 election.
