Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Acquitted Over Impeachment

Texas AG Ken Paxton was acquitted of all 16 articles of impeachment against him, Saturday, according to the Texas Tribune.

None of the articles against Paxton, which accused him of corruption and bribery, received the necessary votes to convict. Only two Republicans voted to convict when it comes to the articles, a staggering difference between the more than 70% who voted to impeach in May.

“The sham impeachment coordinated by the Biden Administration with liberal House Speaker Dade Phelan and his kangaroo court has cost taxpayers millions of dollars, disrupted the work of the Office of Attorney General and left a dark and permanent stain on the Texas House,” Paxton said following the vote. “The weaponization of the impeachment process to settle political differences is not only wrong, it is immoral and corrupt.” (LEARN MORE: Florida Surgeon General Goes Off On COVID-19 Vaccines)

Immediately Returned To Office

Following the acquittal, Paxton was immediately returned to office. He’s been under an automatic suspension since May. So, he can now go back to work.

The vote to restore his career lasted more than an hour, which was apparently done in almost silence except for the crickets that have invaded the building. (LEARN MORE:  Biden Campaign Apparently Spending Huge Sums On NFL Ads During Season Opener)
