The Southern Poverty Law Center (SLPC) might be reporting record lows of numbers of hate groups in 2023, but that hasn’t stopped members of the organization from adding parent groups  and political policies to its “hate map.”

Instead of celebrating the major win against their definition of hate, SPLC’s 2022 report focuses on right-wing hate, according to JustTheNews. Though SPLC list anti-government and hate groups separately, the design is to push right-wingers into the same category as “hate.”

The maps is also geographically incorrect, according to the outlet. SPLC added “Moms for Liberty” chapters to the map in random places across the 45 states where the group’s 285 chapters are found. “Moms for Liberty” isn’t a hate group, nor is it anti-government.

Pro-Parent Groups Under Fire

“Moms for Liberty” members pledge to “honor the fundamental rights of parents including, but not limited to the right to direct the education, medical care, and moral upbringing of their children,” and “to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement and decision-making, increase transparency, defend against government overreach, and secure parental rights at all levels of government.”
