Former star of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” Lydia McLaughlin recently released a book focused on helping women get closer to Christ, according to an interview with CBN News.

“My time in the spotlight or on ‘Housewives,’ I was known for being a happy housewife … being someone [who has] a lot of joy,” McLaughlin told the outlet. “I just believe in the joy that comes from the Lord.” (LEARN MORE: Actor Dennis Quaid Credits God For Helping Him Through Addiction)

Her book “JoyFull: 365 Daily Devotions for Women” is designed to help women find a deeper connection with Jesus, and how the Bible details everything that women need on their quest for peace. “Paul wrote, ‘I have learned to be content,'” McLaughlin continued. “Joy is something that we can learn to do even if it’s not something that comes natural to us.”

Finding Joy In Jesus

“I’ve had the hardest year,” McLaughlin noted. “My mom’s been sick, and even in the midst of hardship and trial, no one can steal my joy because the joy comes from the Lord. And that is everlasting, and that is never changing.”

McLaughlin had been leading Bible studies for 20 years prior to her being cast on “Housewives,” despite not growing up in a Christian household. Her mother was a hippy and her father studied Eastern Religions.
