Major League Baseball quietly ordered all of its team not to wear Pride uniforms throughout various Pride events in June.

The organization sent a blanket ban, first described by the Tampa Bay Times, who wrote, “Under a new MLB directive, players won’t wear rainbow-themed caps or uniform patches, which led to controversy a year ago.” The decision is being attributed the freedoms exercised by an immigrant hockey player, Ivan Provorov, who stood up for his rights and refused to wear Pride jerseys or any other items, sparking a huge debate within the world of sports, according to the Washington Stand.

Following Provorov’s lead, six hockey teams decided to ditch the rainbow clothing entirely, along with a series of individual players from a wealth of different teams. MLB apparently made the decision back in February, pretty soon after Provorov’s statements went viral.

Some Teams Are Still Doing Pride

Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants decided to move forward with their plans to incorporate Pride logos throughout their uniforms. The decision comes just days after the Dodgers were destroyed online for hosting a vulgar, sexualized drag show that totally disrespected the Christian faith.

“God Cannot Be Mocked”

At least two players for the Los Angeles Dodgers have come out against the team’s decision to invite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to attend the team’s Pride Night event in June.

In a statement shared to Twitter, relief pitcher Blake Treinen denounced his team’s decision. “I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins,” he wrote in a statement shared by Sean Feucht. “I believe the word of God is true, and in Galatians 6:7 it says, ‘do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked; a man reaps what he sows.”
