DOJ Sues Big Tech Platform Over Advertising
The Department of Justice issued a lawsuit Tuesday against Google, the second in as many years.
The filing alleges Google has unfairly attempted to control the digital advertising market, and is attempting to break up the platform’s online ads business, according to CNBC. Attorney General Merrick Garland said on Tuesday that Google has pursued anti-competitive conduct for at least 15 years, and has halted the development of rival technologies, as seen in a video shared by ABC News.
The platform is alleged to have engaged in “exclusionary conduct to severely weaken, if not destroy competition in the ad-tech industry,” Garland continued. He then went on to list three pieces of key evidence related to Google’s control over technology linked to advertising on almost every website.

Examples of Google’s manipulation include evidence that decision makers at the company may have sent Republican National Committee messages to the spam folder of Google Mail email users, according to Reuters. The RNC sued Google in October 2022, accusing the tech giant of “discriminating” against the organization by “throttling its email messages because of the RNC’s political affiliation and views.”
The hit is the latest in a slew against Google. The giant will lay off 12,000 employees in the coming weeks and months, and morale is said to be low amongst those who remain in their position, according to Breitbart.
This doesn’t mean Google’s power is diminishing.
The company and those who run it still have the power to manipulate advertising, the business market, and even politics through their monopoly. If you want your local leadership to ensure that Google, and other major tech companies don’t censor your voice, used it today.
