A video from 2020 has gone viral again, showing what happened when Pastor James MacDonald went undercover as a homeless person outside of his own church to see how his congregation would respond to his presence.

You can watch the full video for yourself below, but we warn you that it’ll likely make you tear up. It shows the pastor sitting outside in a fake beard, hat, along with a shopping cart full of belongings. As his congregation enter the building, they bring him food, water, money, coffee, and pray over him as he sits outside.

Many members also invited him to join them in the service. “I was crying inside that beard,” the pastor said after his identity was revealed.

He said he wanted to see how everyone was doing when it was “hardest to love.” It can be assumed his statements came during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, as it was shared two years ago on his official channel.
