A New Birth of Freedom

Gettysburg

The Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 marked a literal turning point for the nation during the Civil War. The nation was still deeply divided but the tide had turned; the Confederacy would have no more victories in battle. Lincoln’s words turned the emotional burden of the sacrifices made at Gettysburg onto his listeners by asking them to dedicate themselves to the unfinished work which the dead of Gettysburg had begun, re-affirming the spirit of the founders and extolling the virtues of democracy. Lincoln called the people to remember the banner that had flown over the nation in the past, uniting us in the common cause of liberty. This same banner continued to fly over America until 1914 when WWI began and a century of trauma began.

Declare:

The Lord is releasing a new banner over this nation, a symbol of Who we belong to. United with Him (Song of Songs 2:4).
King Jesus is a fortress around His people and His Name is a strong tower where we are kept safe (Prov. 18:10).
Comfort, comfort My people…declare her warfare has ended and her iniquity has been pardoned (Isa. 40:1).
His glory insulates us from the devourer and against future trauma and barrenness (Mal. 3:11).
