Bishop E. W. Jackson cites the wisdom of Proverbs 29:2 as a guiding truth regarding Christians’ involvement in politics and governance:: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.” In today’s podcast, Bishop Jackson, an ordained minister, lawyer, author, and radio host shares historical and biblical insight into what is at stake in our nation, along with practical ways to engage and become a Kingdom change-agent.

Raised impoverished in the foster care system until age 10, Jackson understands both the challenges and the opportunities America presents. His life and ministry trumpet the importance of family, fathers in the home, education, and Christian values that enable citizens to take their place responsibly in the public square. Jackson founded STAND (Staying True to America’s National Destiny) and Project Awakening to mobilize and energize believers to prayer and action. These call the Church to wake up, unite, and fight for biblical principles and one nation’s founding vision under God. Only then can we be indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Bishop Jackson has a unique perspective about political involvement: “Ultimately it’s not politics from a Christian point of view, it is ultimately prophetic ministry. Was Moses engaged in politics when he went to Pharaoh and told him, ‘God said, ‘Let My people go!’ Was Elijah engaged in politics when he told Ahab and Jezebel, ‘you are troubling the land by spreading idolatry throughout the land and blaspheming God’” This is part of who we are called to be as those who love and worship God. We have a responsibility to pray for righteous leadership, to counsel righteous leadership, and to praise God because, in this country, we actually get to vote and have a say in our leadership.  Your prayers matter. And your voice matters!
