Syndicated columnist, radio and TV news commentator, and author Cal Thomas give a compelling analysis of a wide range of issues impacting today’s cultural climate and give Christians strong encouragement to engage in political conversation by voting.

In today’s interview, Cal shares historical context for the role of limited, not expanded, government as outlined in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution. Our nation’s founders understood our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness originate with God. Still, they also established our governmental framework because, in the words of Thomas Jefferson, “that to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Therefore, civic engagement is both our responsibility and privilege, Thomas says. “If you don’t vote, you’re going to cede the public square to people with a worldview that is counter to your own…If we don’t renew these values and virtues that were passed down to us by the greatest generation, then we’re going to lose them. It’s just as simple as that. Vote while you can or it may not make any difference at all in the future if you don’t.”  Your values matter. Your voice matters!
