Republican Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance has also stood up to the mainstream Environmental Protection Agency and Biden Administration narrative that the region is now safe. In a video shared on his social media, he showed how toxins from the spill are still leaching into the waterways surrounding East Palestine.

As these waterways are upstream of a huge swath of America’s farmland, the decision to burn off at least one of the substances spilled in East Palestine — vinyl chloride — may have turned the substance into hydrochloric acid, which sits in our air until it falls as acid rain. Gabbard is not letting Norfolk Southern or any other major governmental or private corporate entity exploit the people of East Palestine. The rail company offered residents $1,000 for the incident, but only if they sign a form that releases Norfolk Southern from all liabilities.

She highlighted how people in East Palestine should not be signing the form. She further noted how Biden Administration officials have tried to gaslight residents into thinking this derailment is not a big deal.
