Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce Wednesday that he is running for president in 2024.

On Tuesday night, his wife, Casey DeSantis, shared a powerful video on her Twitter account, showing her husband walking toward the American flag as a message of hope, power, and the American way plays behind. The tweet was accompanied by a call to action that read “LAUNCH,” suggesting that the announcement is officially happening.

DeSantis For President?

Republicans appear torn over DeSantis as a potential 2024 leader of the GOP. Though his work in Florida is astoundingly pro-conservative, faith, children, equality, and safety, there’s a large number of people who see his candidacy as an attack against former President Donald Trump.

The Florida Gov. has previously hinted at his potential run for office. But his sudden potential announcement still seemed surprising given how away we are from primary season.

NBC reported that sources claim DeSantis will make his formal announcement during a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk via the platform’s Twitter Spaces feature. Again, this is a nonstandard approach, but one that might be required given how normalized the biases are within corporate and mainstream news media.
