If you are an American citizen who values the foundational principles of our democratic republic—most importantly, the right to self-govern—there is a piece of legislation making its way through Congress that should deeply concern you.
For the People Act?
Of the numerous bills being rushed through Congress that threaten our freedoms, none is as dangerous or ominous as H.R. 1 (“For the People Act”). This is because H.R.1 would seize the power to control elections from the states and hand it over to Congress, putting Congress in control of all future elections. Following the most compromised election in American history, Congress, through H.R.1, aims to eliminate critical safeguards to election integrity and make permanent many of the unlawfully-imposed processes that caused chaos at the polls in 2020 and diminished many Americans’ trust in the election system.
Why is this different than any other legislation that citizens from one side of the political spectrum or the other find objectionable? Because this legislation takes away the very tool the Constitution gives us for reversing bad legislation: the power of our vote.
They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you. 2 Pet. 2: 19
While H.R. 1 is an astounding 791-page bill, the following is a list of some of the most concerning changes this legislation would impose. If passed into law, H.R. 1 would:
- Prohibit states from matching individuals to voter-registration rolls and purging rolls to remove non-citizens
- Permit a person to vote anywhere, with any name (enabling multiple votes by one person)
- Eliminate any requirement for voter identification
- Mandate universal mail-in ballots without regard for eligibility to vote
- Prohibit states from requiring witnesses to signatures on mail-in ballots
- Force states to allow ballot harvesting (the mass collection of ballots, such as in nursing homes, hospitals, universities, and delivery of those ballots to ballot boxes), which is currently illegal in most states)
- Require states to offer 15 days of early voting, curbside voting, and ballot drop boxes
- Require states to offer same-day registration
- Allow minors to register at age 16 while requiring the government to train minors how to vote
- Force states to allow felons to vote
- Remove the power of state legislatures to draw U.S. House districts, giving power to commissions that have no accountability to the people
- Require the inclusion of illegal immigrants (who are not eligible to vote) in the districts
- Compel organizations to reveal the identity of their donors

Harming Election Integrity
H.R.1 would remove states’ constitutional power to enact reasonable laws to prevent voter fraud, harming the integrity of our elections. Most disturbing, though, is the fact that this legislation would permanently dilute the voting power of all legal voters, diminishing, if not destroying, the ability of the American people either to overturn the law or to remove from office those who are behind it. In other words, a small group of elite politicians, who currently hold the reins of power, seek to make that power permanent, by depriving “we the people” of our cherished and constitutionally-protected right to vote and to have our vote equally counted.
This is why no other legislation currently making its way through Congress is as dangerous to our ability to continue to self-govern as H.R. 1.

Whether you identify with the Democrat party, the Republican party, or neither, if you are an American citizen who cherishes the right of self-governance, the “For the People Act” is not truly for you!
